Built from
Frustration.
LIGNA was born out of a conversation between an architect and a timber engineer on a sweltering Dubai rooftop in 2019. The project below them had just failed its six-month inspection — a premium hardwood deck, buckled and silvered beyond recovery, installed by a supplier who had simply imported a European product and hoped for the best.
That conversation became a conviction: the Middle East deserved timber that was engineered specifically for its climate. Not adapted. Not approximated. Engineered — from species selection through to the molecular structure of the wood itself.
We spent two years in research and development before we sold our first board. We partnered with thermal modification facilities in Europe, ran accelerated weathering tests in Sharjah's industrial zone, and rebuilt our installation methodology from first principles. We did not launch until we were certain.
Today, LIGNA supplies some of the most demanding architectural practices in the GCC — and every product we make is still held to the same standard we set on that rooftop.
